start making a difference in North Memphis!


Developing Young Christian Leaders

We need volunteers to help our youth grow spiritually and as effective leaders for tomorrow! We have many opportunities and age groups for you to plug in to. Click headings for more details about our ministries. Click here to fill out the online Volunteer Background Check.

Spiritual and Leadership Development

Lead or Assist with Pathfinders Middle School Bible Study
Volunteers are needed to assist Thursdays from 5:15-7:00pm.

Lead or Assist with Ambassadors High School Bible Study
Volunteers are needed to assist Tuesdays 5:30-7:00pm.

Mentor Young Girls through our Warrior Princesses Program
Volunteers are needed to assist and teach life skills to girls in 3rd-6th grades living in an urban, underprivileged environment on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays from 10:00am-12:00pm.

Assist with Vacation Bible School
Volunteers are needed to lead groups, help with crafts, read Bible stories and more: June 23-25, 2014 from 5:00-7:30p & June 26 from 2:00-7:00pm.

Mentor Young Adults
Volunteers are needed to pair up with a young adult, take them to lunch once a month, call them once a week, and ultimately become their friend.  That's called mentoring.  Mentees set their own schedule. 


Coach, Assist or Cheer for the Manassas Football Team
Volunteers are needed to support the team throughout the season by attending games and special functions.

Coach, Assist or Cheer for the Oasis Basketball Team
Volunteers are needed to help coach the middle school community basketball team, drive them to games, and provide them with snacks. Annually Nov-Feb.

Coach, Assist or Cheer for the Manassas HS Baseball Team
Volunteers are needed to help with baseball camp at Hope Presbyterian in February, and to support the team throughout the season by attending games and special functions.

Coach, Assist or Cheer for the Summer Baseball Teams
Volunteers are needed to help teach the fundamentals of baseball from 9:00am-12:00pm M-F throughout the summer (June-July), and to support the team by attending games and special functions.


Assist with the Annual Easter Egg Hunt
Volunteers are needed each year on a Saturday prior to Easter to hide candy, organize children and serve food. Annually in April: Saturday, April 12, 2014 from 1:00-3:00pm.



education & Employment

Listen to Students Read During Read 2 Succeed (R2S)
Encourage, read Bible stories, serve snacks and attend occasional parties with 2nd-5th graders on either Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday from 4:30-6:00pm during the school year. 


Tutor in Reading or Math at KIPP:Memphis Middle School
Volunteer to tutor a child in grades 5-8 for one hour on M/T/W/Th from 4:00-5:00pm during the school year.


Tutor in Reading at Caldwell-Guthrie Elementary School
Volunteer to tutor 2nd grade students for one hour/week on M/T/W/Th/F from 11:35am-12:35pm or from 2:15-3:00pm; or tutor 3rd-5th graders on M/T/W/Th from 9:00-12:00pm.


Buy School Supplies for Students During our Back to School Drive
Shop for needed school items in July.  Supply lists will be posted online.  School supplies are given to families we know at:  Caldwell-Guthrie Elementary, Humes Middle School, KIPP Middle School, Manassas High School, the University of Memphis and more.  Monetary donations are also greatly appreciated!


Donate, Manage, Clean, Pick Up, or Shop at Oasis Appliance
We need volunteers to donate appliances/gently used furniture, work in our store, clean appliances, pick up donated items, or come and shop: Tuesdays & Thursdays from 10:00-2:00pm & Saturdays from 10:00-12:00pm.

Spiritual & Leadership Development

Teach or Assist During our Getting Ahead In A Just Getting By World Class
Volunteers are needed to help us teach valuable life skills to underprivileged adults. Classes are held in Oct/Nov and April/May.


Commit to a 4-day Mission Trip in Inner City Memphis Called Urban Plunge
Volunteers are needed to attend the next Urban Plunge to experience a mission trip to the inner city in our own back yard!  We 'plunge' every Spring & Fall.


Commit to a 3-day, Out of State Roadtrip Called the Justice Tour
Volunteers are needed to attend the next Justice Tour to learn about African American's fight for equality! We tour Selma, Montgomery & Birmingham. Annually in June. 


Attend the Christian Community Development Conference (CCDA)
Volunteers are needed to attend the CCDA conference with our neighborhood adults to learn how to more-effectively reach our mission. Annually in September.


Assist with the Annual Oasis Fall Festival
Volunteers are needed to help with entertainment, games, food and crowd-flow. Annually in October: Saturday, October 26th, 2013 from 1:00-5:00pm.


Sort & Deliver Thanksgiving Feast Baskets
Volunteers are needed to help sort and box food items and deliver them to recipients. Annually in November prior to Thanksgiving: Distribution Day - Monday, November 25th, 2013 from 10:00am-3:00pm.



Education & employment


Teach or Assist the Basics of Personal Finance

Volunteers are needed with a background in budgeting and basic personal finance to help mentor famililes in this area.  Mentors set their own schedule.

Donate, Manage, Clean, Pick Up, or Shop at Oasis Appliance
Volunteers are needed to donate appliances/gently used furniture, work in our store, clean appliances, pick up donated items, or come and shop: Tuesdays & Thursdays from 10:00-2:00pm & Saturdays from 10:00-12:00pm.

Offer Your Construction Skills to our Bearwater Park Project
 Volunteers are neededwith construction backgrounds to offer their skills and services to the building of 51 new homes as well as company resources that can assist this huge undertaking.

Pick Up Donations, Repair Bikes, Teach Youth, or Oversee Community Service Projects at The Oasis Bike Shop
Volunteers are needed to help pick up donated bikes, to repair them, to teach youth how to repair them, and to organize & supervise youth doing community service projects so they can earn a bike!  Oasis Appliance:  Tuesdays 4:30-7:00pm and Saturdays from 9:30-12:00pm.


Shop for Toys, Donate Toys or Manage our Oasis Toy Store
Volunteers are needed to help plan, shop, donate toys and manage our employees.  Annually for 3 weeks in December: December 2-14, 2013.



Bickford Seniors' program

Teach Something to our Daily Senior Citizen Outreach
Volunteers are needed who have a skill to share with our senior citizens, M-F from 8:30am-1:00pm.
