July 18, 2019

web800-go-and-do-2019-7I’m sure you’ve heard that Hope Church is conducting their awesome Go & Do Event for our church to roll up our sleeves and make a difference in our city, July 20 & 21. Some of those opportunities are with Oasis of Hope and because of your heart for urban Memphis and for our ministry, we’d LOVE for you to consider making a difference with us!

All of our opportunities are Saturday, July 20 th (late morning and early afternoon with lunch provided by the Memphis-Shelby County CRA). The schedule will be:

9-10:45am work
10:45-11:45am lunch break
11:45-1:00pm work

Come to 245 Guthrie Ave (The Green House). Our main task will be landscaping thanks to our wonderful partnership with the CRA.

Please prayerfully consider serving with us – our community has some awesome opportunities, but we need many hands to make light work .

Please Support Summer Leadership Institute

March 28, 2019

FullSizeRenderSummer Leadership Institute (SLI) – 2019

In just a couple short months, Oasis of Hope will offer our Summer Leadership Institute (SLI), to neighborhood youth. Our Youth Development Team are hard at work recruiting boys and girls from each milestone (High, Middle, and Elementary ages) to spend the summer growing into our front runners to assist us in spearheading our goal of continuing to empower the North Memphis community.

Through the SLI, we purpose to equip our apprentices with the tools and support needed to advance in academics, leadership, teamwork, and life skills, through dedicated life-on-life mentorship, tutoring, training, team building exercises, and peer-to peer-networking. It’s a heavy challenge, and our team is committed to taking on the task.

Our SLI students will also learn about topics rooted in biblical truth on: Identity, God as our Father, Being a Child of God, Jesus as a child, How to honor our mother/father/friends/and ourselves, Home cred vs. Street Cred, How to Become Better Communicators, How to Love Yourself, Reputation, Being an Image Bearer of God, Dealing with Conflict, and more!

Students will also be given the opportunity to visit some of the best our city has to offer by taking Learning Excursions to Slave Haven, the Memphis Zoo, Shelby Forest, The National Civil Rights Museum, Memphis Rox, and The Pink Palace to name a few. Oasis will also be partnering with Memphis Kids In Nature (MKIN) this summer. MKIN exists to simply get kids out to experience and appreciate the outdoors.

This summer SLI students will be blessed with an opportunity to spend a week at For the Kingdom Camp. Our elementary, middle and high schoolers will each have a chance to experience this powerful Bible camp! Last summer we saw nearly two dozen students make decisions for Christ. Our Middle Schoolers will spend their final week of camp at Service Over Self (S.O.S.) investing in others by repairing roofs along with being invested in themselves.

We, at Oasis, could not do the work we do without the individuals all throughout our Memphis community who sacrificially give of their time, talent, and treasure to help our ministry go. We’d like to ask that you consider donating to Oasis of Hope to help our students maximize their summer. Give specifically to help Send A Kid to Camp by donating here. Thank you for your continued support!

Please mark your calendars for Dec. 15th from 10am-1pm at Memphis Scholars Caldwell Guthrie Elementary School (951 Chelsea Ave) and come 1) Shop in the store, 2) Volunteer in the Store, or 3) Donate toys to the store by Dec. 10th! See more information below:

VOLUNTEER IN THE STORE: If you would like to give of your time, we need volunteers to help us set up the Toy Store the night before (Fri, Dec. 14), and work in the store on Saturday (Dec. 15th from 9:30-11:30a and 11:30a-1:30p)! It’s such a fun day and we would love your help! If you would like to join our elf team, sign up here.
