Praise God for the favor He has shown North Memphis. A group of well-known national foundations put out a Strong, Prosperous, And Resilient Communities Challenge (SPARCC) grant opportunity…and North Memphis was one of 6 locations selected from all over the nation! Recently meetings were held to discuss how this will play out for our community. It will take time with some significant money on the front end to organize and plan out the strategy.
Then there will be another opportunity for program dollars down the road if our plan is one of those selected. Oasis of Hope has participated on the local team trying to organize and move the ball forward. It has been a huge blessing already as many of the stakeholders in North Memphis haven’t taken the opportunity in the past to work together, deepen relationships and seek to better our community together.
The SPARCC program focuses on racial equity, health, and climate resilience…all aspects that need improvement in our part of the city. It will take a lot of time and hard work planning this out, but it’s great work that will have a positive impact on our community.
