Need Permission to Shop? Buy Toys for the Oasis Toy Store!

November 20, 2014

oasis-toy-drive-110x116The Oasis Toy Store truly is one of the most fun things we do to bless our North Memphis families! This outreach empowers under-resourced families to buy their own presents and offers dignity along with grace. What a great way to celebrate the season!

Additionally, we hire four local residents to help us run the store which teaches customer service, cash register skills, store management and more!

Help our North Memphis community parents provide for their children this Christmas – donate to our annual toy store! The toys are deeply discounted, allowing parents to purchase new, trendy gifts for their children. Drop-off any new, unwrapped toys from the wish list below Nov. 22 through Dec. 12 in the designated boxes located in the North, South and Main Lobbies at Hope Church.

Gifts for Boys & Girls:

-mega blocks

-action figures
-lego sets

Providing Thanksgiving with Dignity – We Have Listened and Learned From our Families

November 11, 2014

thanksgiving-baskets-100x11The Thanksgiving Holiday is soon upon us and many people are looking for ways they can make a difference by helping out a family in need.

Many families in our Oasis neighborhood struggle on daily basis to put food on the table, let alone a feast of Thanksgiving over the holiday. However, a complete Feast Box including the turkey and ALL the fixings for just $7 provides a great meal to celebrate what God has given us. It also provides the dignity of purchasing the meal for their family, along with the joy of getting an unbelievable deal. Empowerment and blessing are the goal and your participation helps us spread the joy of the season to as many families as possible.

What does this look like and how does this work?

1. Volunteers donate the following food items & bring them to Hope Church Nov. 8-9, 15-16 and 22-23:

– Turkey (frozen, 10-12 lbs)
– Canned green beans
– Canned peas
– Canned corn
– Canned yams
– Boxed instant potatoes
– Cranberry sauce
– Stuffing
– Cake mix
– Vanilla Frosting

2. North Memphis residents order their complete Thanksgiving baskets on Nov. 5 from 12-3p, Nov. 6 from 9a-3p, and Nov. 7 from 9a-3p by turning in their order forms and $7 to one of our North Memphis ministry offices.

3.  Volunteers can help collect, sort, and package items on the following days. If you would like to volunteer for this, please let Di know you’re coming.

- Sat, Nov. 8, 15, 22 from 5:30-6:30p at Hope Church – collecting and sorting
- Sun, Nov. 9, 16, 23 from 8-11:45a at Hope Church – collecting and sorting
- Sun, Nov. 9, 16 from 5:30-6:30p at Hope Church – collecting and sorting
- Mon, Nov. 10 & 17 from 5:30-7p at Hope Church – prepacking boxes
- Sun, Nov. 23 from 8a-1p at Hope Church – packing and distributing boxes to various ministries
