Giants Win Championship Title!

July 24, 2009

team with trophyWe are thrilled to announce the Bickford Giants ended this year’s season by beating a team they hadn’t beaten in years to win the league championship!  Thanks to great guidance by Coach Michael and Coach Barry, our middle school team not only learned to better their athletic skills, but more importantly were taught about character both on and off the field.  Final score was 4 to 1.

Read on for detailed Game Notes from Coach Michael:

Geryone played a stellar centerfield taking away hits on multiple ocasions, prompting second baseman Daniel Moore to say, ‘I believe we had some angels in the outfield tonight!’

2 coachesRayford pitched six innings allowing one run anchored by a solid catching performance from Jury Pugh.

Isaac Bragg had a two RBI single to go along with the game winning grand slam saving catch.

As a whole, the boys hit and fielded the ball better than they had all year and really fed off one another for a great team victory.

Congrats to Geryone Speed, Dante Clark, Terrell Jones, Jury Pugh, Rayford Albright, Marquis Greer, Tracey Maxwell, Isaac Bragg, Daniel Moore, Quantarius Flowers, and Deonte Reed.

fans and teamA very special thanks to Coach Tim and Joe Bragg from the ministry for the assistance and support of the boys throughout the season.

We are SO PROUD of you Giants!!

Tree Crushes Hope House in Storm June 12th

July 17, 2009

Tree crushes Hope HouseUpdate on damaged Hope House:  Oasis Director, Terry Hoff said, “God has been very faithful.  With so many trees down in the storm from June 12th it should have taken days, if not weeks for a tree company to remove the huge tree that collapsed right onto one of our homes.  However, Bill Jurgens and Jones Brothers Tree Service were there the next day!  The contractor, William Parks, and the insurance adjustor agreed on the repair price immediately without any problems.  The contractor has been steady at work repairing the building and has about one week left to finish the job.  It was a major project but God protected the family and has worked out the details far better than could be imagined since then.  We are very thankful to Him for His provision.  And Glen is thankful to get his family back home without major delays.

hope house repaired after tree crushed itPosted June 13th:  Summer winds blew a huge tree right onto one of the properties built and owned by Oasis of Hope, crushing through the upper level of the house and landing largely in the children’s first floor bedroom on Friday, June 12th.Thankfully, no one was home at the time, although the family (Glen & Toya Lloyd) had been there prior for the majority of the day.  Their response in the midst of this shocking event: “We are blessed.  No one was hurt and we are sssooo blessed.”  Please keep this family in your prayers through the process of reconstruction.

kids at campOasis Staffer, Brenda Lampela headed to Kids Across America (KAA) in Golden, MO in July with 10 Oasis kids to attend summer camp. It was a powerful time of bonding, having fun, tubing, swimming, zip-lining and most importantly, learning more about a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.  Much thanks also to Andre Manning, the Youth Minister from Walker Memorial Christian Church, who volunteered his presence at camp to assist our kids!
